AreasThe valley, and the hills around it.
Cardiff sits on the valley floor with a ring of hill suburbs stacked around it, and the doors change as the streets climb. The valley grid carries the region's oldest original doors; the hills carry the family double garages that cycle up and down twice a day. Distances below are from the Cardiff town centre.
1.4 km · the higher ground
Cardiff South
Established post-war streets up the rise, heavy with original tilt and roller doors that have quietly aged out together.
1.6 km · the family hills
Macquarie Hills
The most house-dominant suburb in the cluster. Double garages, daily-cycling sectional doors, springs earning their keep.
1.8 km · the working precinct
Glendale & Munibung Road
The retail and trade end of the map: workshop units and warehouses that run on their roller doors like plant.
The whole ring
Every suburb below is a normal call-out, not an excursion. If you're a street past the edge of this list, ask anyway: the answer is usually yes.
Distances are straight-line from the Cardiff centre, for a sense of the ring rather than a route.
